The Lighthouse Keeper

Designed for: Continuous solo development, post Spooktober jam '24.

Kim and her partner Robin are trying to navigate their crumbing relationship, amidst a looming supernatural threat. She hides her true nature, magical abilities and 'soul sight' from Robin, who is a non-believer. But when Kim's father goes missing, she is thrust head first into the role of lighthouse keeper, and guardian of her old home town, Bayharbor. Can she ward off the souls, and keep her relationship with Robin intact? Will the villagers slip under the spell of the dead? And how do you mend a magical light?

In order to bring this game to its full potential I have decided to continue to develop it past the Spooktober game jam. This story has parts to it that need to breathe, and a one month production schedules, for all the components that go into a development cycle, was simply not enough to do it justice.

Please look forward to a release in the near future!

The Lighthouse Keeper is a visual novel about relationships. Relationships to family, self and your partner.
It tackles hard topics such as grief, feelings of inadequacy, acceptance, support, and moving forward.

It is made utilizing Ren'Py and Python, Trello, as well as Figma for brainstorming, planning and artboard. The story and art is created by me, and audio is sourced from Freesound.org with appropriate credits and licenses.
